I'm Kate Gladstone: a dyslexic,
dyspraxic, dysgraphic, ADHD,
autistic..and I teach and remediate
handwriting worldwide
through my businesses —
http://readcursivefast.com and
http://handwritingrepair.info
I’ve been doing this since 1987,
when I was 24 years old and in
graduate school. Till then, I’d never
been able to write decipherably,
except sometimes by slowing
down to a rate of 2 or 3 words
a minute — despite literally
decades of school essons, extra
lessons,and other ever-more
despairing and frustrating
interventions on the subject
of handwriting. Further, I could
not even begin to read the
handwriting f others, no matter
how well it was written,
if any letters were joined. Today,
my handwriting instruction
and remediation business
has its roots in the strategies
that I eventually developed
at age 24 to solve these
situations for myself and for
another family member with
similar (though lesser) issues.
I teach people of all ages and
walks of life, with and without
disabilities,to write in
a legible, rapid, and accident-
resistant way — and to read,
quickly and easily, the handwriting
of others. My goal is to ensure
that everyone can read even quite
complicated handwriting — and
that we all, especially we who
have the “dys-“abilities, can write
more sensibly by hand ourselves.
The “cursive reading” side of my
business has become one of the
interventions I’m most often asked
to provide, ever since the 2021
publication of my book
READ CURSIVE FAST (from
